Why this journey
Morocco's Jewish history is part of its wider history. For centuries, Jewish and Muslim communities shared markets, crafts, languages and city neighborhoods, even as their experiences differed over time. This private journey connects the places where that history can still be explored: the Casablanca Jewish museum, historic mellahs, the old neighborhoods of Fes and the Jewish heritage of Marrakech.
We begin in Casablanca, where Jewish communal life continues today, and travel through Rabat and imperial Meknes to Fes. In Fes, we set aside time for both the Jewish quarter and the wider old medina. The final three nights are in Marrakech, with space to explore its Jewish heritage and broader Amazigh, Andalusian and Moroccan traditions. Visits to active synagogues, cemeteries and community institutions are discussed in advance and depend on local permission, opening hours and religious observances.
Signature moments
Explore the Museum of Moroccan Judaism and relevant heritage neighborhoods, with other visits arranged when access is available.
Understand the imperial cities and their mellahs while connecting Moroccan and Roman history at Volubilis.
Explore Jewish heritage in Fes alongside the city's traditional artisan neighborhoods and centuries of cultural exchange.
Discover the Jewish quarter and wider medina with context from a locally based guide.
Day by day
A suggested rhythm to shape together. Where days are grouped, the detailed daily arrangements are developed in your proposal.
Your private driver meets you at the agreed Casablanca airport or city location and transfers you to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a gentle introduction to the city and its Atlantic setting. This first day remains flexible, especially after a long international journey.
Spend the day exploring Casablanca's Moroccan Jewish heritage in its wider historical setting. A visit to the Museum of Moroccan Judaism is a priority when open. We can also discuss the historic Jewish quarter and, where prior arrangements permit, a synagogue or community site. Active religious spaces are not guaranteed visitor attractions; access is confirmed before travel. The day also leaves room to understand Casablanca's modern architecture and the city's broader cultural life.
Drive privately to Rabat, Morocco's capital. Explore historic districts including the mellah in context, and discover the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower area as time permits. Where feasible, additional Jewish heritage places can be discussed with a knowledgeable local guide. Enjoy the evening in Rabat rather than continuing immediately onward.
Leave Rabat for the imperial city of Meknes. Learn about its historic quarters and Jewish Moroccan connections, followed by a visit to the archaeological site of Volubilis when the site and weather conditions permit. The Roman ruins offer an additional chapter in the region's long history, separate from the later Jewish heritage of the imperial cities. Continue to Fes for the first of three nights.
Discover the mellah of Fes, its history and its relationship with the royal palace district. Subject to access arrangements and opening times, the day may include the restored Ibn Danan Synagogue, other historic Jewish sites or the Jewish cemetery. Visits are curated around what is open and appropriate; we do not promise entry to functioning religious or community spaces without permission. Your guide connects this history to the wider story of the city.
Spend a second full day exploring the larger historic medina with a licensed local guide. Walk its lanes, meet traditional crafts in their working context and understand the city's long history of scholarship, trade and architecture. If you have family-history interests, we can use this time for a prearranged specialist conversation or additional heritage research, but genealogical discoveries cannot be guaranteed.
Travel from Fes to Marrakech by private vehicle, with suitable breaks along the way. This is primarily a transfer day: we do not promise an extensive city tour on arrival. Settle into your hotel or riad and enjoy a relaxed evening in Marrakech.
With your local guide, explore Marrakech's historic mellah and learn about the Jewish communities that shaped the city. Where opening hours and permissions allow, visits can include the Slat al-Azama (Lazama) Synagogue and the Miaara Jewish cemetery. We discuss etiquette and access in advance. The afternoon connects this heritage with the wider history of the city, its architectural traditions and everyday market life.
Spend a further day discovering Marrakech with a flexible private plan. Depending on interests and opening hours, explore additional historic architecture, artisan neighborhoods, markets or local cultural experiences. Travelers following their family roots may request a specialist-led visit or conversation in advance. We keep the day adaptable rather than overloading it with compulsory stops.
Your driver provides the agreed departure transfer within Marrakech. If your departure is later in the day, some additional free time or a short local visit may be possible. Any onward journey to Casablanca or another city must be arranged separately, so it is not assumed in this itinerary.

Start with this idea. We’ll discuss dates, pacing, comfort and interests before agreeing your proposal.
Local value
Heritage is not only a set of monuments. Synagogues and cemeteries remain meaningful to communities and families, while mellahs are lived-in neighborhoods. We approach visits respectfully, confirm permission where required and never assume that a space of worship is open simply because it appears in a travel itinerary.
