Why this journey
There is much more between Fes and Marrakech than a long road through the desert. The landscape changes from the forests of the Middle Atlas to the green ribbon of the Ziz Valley, then to dunes, oasis settlements, rocky gorges and earthen kasbahs. We designed this journey to help you understand those changes rather than only stop for photographs.
You will have two nights in the Merzouga region, so you can spend a full day discovering the area around the dunes. Continuing west, we travel through Todra Gorge, Dadès Valley, the Roses Valley and Skoura before crossing the High Atlas to Marrakech. Along the way, we explain the Amazigh heritage, traditional architecture and local ways of life that give each region its own identity.
Signature moments
See how the landscapes change through Ifrane, Midelt and the Ziz Valley before reaching the Sahara.
Take time for desert villages, oasis life and a camel experience without leaving immediately after arriving.
Visit Todra Gorge, Dadès and the Roses Valley with opportunities for village and scenery stops.
Explore the Skoura region and Aït Ben Haddou before crossing the mountains toward Marrakech.
Day by day
A suggested rhythm to shape together. Where days are grouped, the detailed daily arrangements are developed in your proposal.
We collect you from your accommodation in Fes and head south through the Middle Atlas. Pass Ifrane and the cedar forest region, then continue toward Midelt for a break. Beyond the mountains, the landscape opens towards the palm-filled Ziz Valley. We stop when practical for views and refreshments before reaching Merzouga later in the day. The overnight arrangement is confirmed for your chosen travel standard.
Today is dedicated to the Sahara rather than another transfer. Discover nearby villages, palm groves and the ways local communities have adapted to desert life. Depending on your interests, we can include a local cultural encounter or other experience arranged in advance. Later, enjoy your included camel experience at a suitable time of day and the changing light over the dunes. Your night can be in a selected hotel or desert camp according to the confirmed proposal.
Leave the dunes and travel towards Rissani, an important oasis town with a long trading history. Continue through changing southern landscapes to Todra Gorge, where high rock walls frame a narrow valley. In the afternoon we carry on to Dadès, passing villages, gardens and remarkable geological formations. Stops and short walks can be adapted to the pace of your party.
Travel west through the Roses Valley, a place closely connected with Amazigh village life and seasonal rose cultivation. We can stop at traditional settlements and scenic viewpoints where appropriate. Continue through Skoura, known for its palm groves and earthen kasbah architecture, before arriving in Ouarzazate. Rose flowering is seasonal, and the itinerary is worthwhile throughout the year.
After breakfast, visit Aït Ben Haddou and learn how this fortified settlement relates to older caravan routes and the architecture of Morocco’s south. Then continue across the High Atlas Mountains, making stops for scenery and refreshments as the conditions allow. We arrive in Marrakech and drop you at the agreed hotel or accessible meeting point. For connections on the same day, we advise allowing generous time rather than planning an early flight.
Your stay
Accommodation, room preferences and comfort level are reviewed alongside your route. Your proposal sets out the specific properties and arrangements before anything is agreed.
Comfortable, locally selected hotels and riads, including a suitable Sahara arrangement and accommodation in Dadès and Ouarzazate. Exact properties are confirmed in your proposal.
Characterful boutique accommodation and upgraded desert options where available, chosen for comfort and location rather than a standardised chain-hotel experience.
Premium accommodation and desert stays where available. Standards differ in remote valleys and camps; the exact facilities will be explained before confirmation.
Clear expectations
The agreed proposal is the reference for your final services and price.
Make it personal
Start with this idea. We’ll discuss dates, pacing, comfort and interests before agreeing your proposal.
Local value
The southern oases and villages are living communities rather than visitor attractions. We favour respectful encounters, ask permission for photographs and avoid turning everyday local life into a performance. We adapt stops to the season and to the people who live there.
