You'll have the opportunity to visit a feminine cooperative and learn about the various uses of saffron in cooking and makeup by Berber women. After a delicious breakfast at your riad or hotel, you'll set out on the road towards Ouarazazate, also known as the Hollywood of Morocco. You'll have some free time to visit the studio and take pictures at the amazing monuments inside, with your local guide happy to explain the main monuments and their history. From there, you'll continue on towards the Dades valley, passing through Skoura and stopping to visit the Kasbah Amredil, a 17th century fortress considered to be the most coveted in the country. As you make your way towards the land of the 1000 Kasbahs, you'll have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the calmness of nature with a one hour hike through the fields in the roses valley (which is at its peak in late May). You'll be treated to beautiful rock formations and fortified Kasbahs along the Dades river, with the sunset as a backdrop. After a stop at the canyons for a drink or to admire the majestic scenery, you'll continue on to your hotel for dinner and a good night's rest.
On your eighth day of touring Morocco, you'll wake up to a delicious breakfast at your hotel in the Dades valley. Departure is at 8 a.m., and you'll take the road of 1000 kasbahs, driving through the colorful Berber villages of the Dades valley. After 60 km, you'll arrive in Tinghir, known for its beautiful palm grove and Jewish quarter. You'll have a short visit to the women's cooperative for carpets, where you can see how these handmade Berber carpets are made. From there, you'll continue on to Todra Gorges (Todra), where you'll take a 1 hour walk along the 300m high canyons, a favorite spot for rock climbers. After lunch, you'll journey on to the Erg Chebbi dunes in the Merzouga Sahara desert, arriving at your hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner will be included in your stay.
After breakfast, you'll start exploring the area, beginning with a visit to the village of black people originally from Mali. Here, you'll enjoy traditional Gnawa music and learn about their way of life. Next, you'll drive to Miffis to meet Berber nomad families living in tents. Before returning to the hotel, you'll learn how to mount and dismount camels and other safety tips with your guide.
