Marrakech City Tour

Marrakech Highlights

Palaces, Mosques & Traditional Souks

Your day’s tour begins at the renowned Jemaa el-Fna Square, which beats with the pulse of lively Marrakech, with its storytellers, musicians, and market stalls creating unparalleled surroundings. From here, take a gentle walk past the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest mosque in Marrakech, and admire its beautiful minaret from the square. Discover the history of the distinctive Jewish Quarter, or Mellah, with its unique architecture and narrow lanes, which reflect Marrakech’s multiculturalism.

From there, head to the magnificent Bahia Palace, the exemplary culmination of Moroccan architecture and craftsmanship, after which a stop will be made at the Berber Pharmacy in order to get familiar with traditional Amazigh remedies, oils, and natural beauty products. Proceed to production areas and craft workshops, like woodworking studios, blacksmiths, leather tanneries, and mixed markets, where you will be able to observe skillful craftsmen at work and browse through genuine Moroccan merchandise.

Marrakech City Tour

Half-Day vs Full-Day Marrakech city tour

Abdel takes you on a tour through the winding alleys of the medina and explains the Amazigh culture, local customs, and daily life of Marrakech. The half-day Marrakech city tour would be about 3–4 hours to see the core elements of the city, but the full-day option would be 5–6 hours, enabling time to explore further into extra artisan workshops and secret courtyards of local experiences. On a private tour, you can tailor this tour to your needs: more time in the medina, extra artisans, or cultural storytelling that focuses on what really interests you.

Whether you opt for a private, customized tour or join one of the shared-group tours, carrying a maximum of 15 guests, this Marrakech City Tour provides the perfect blend of history, culture, and local life to give you a rich understanding of one of Morocco's most enchanting cities.

1 Bargain in markets : Bargaining is a normal part of shopping in Morocco. Do with a smile and be respectful. usually , start from half and end up taking the goods with 70% / 80% of the actual price.

2 Carry small bills : Its useful to have small bills for tipping and for small purchases.

3 Tip for good service : Tipping is customary for good service in restaurants, cafes, bars and hotels.

4 Cultural Guideline for GUIDE : Tipping is never mandatory, but culturally it’s a common way to show appreciation in Moroccan culture.Sometimes visitors are not aware of local customs and leave only small coins, which can be considered inappropriate. To avoid any misunderstanding, I always mention this in advance as a cultural guideline — not an obligation.
Tips are always at your discretion, though less than 10 € is generally viewed as symbolic.

A walk through the medina Great guide very relaxed and informative through the narrow streets of the Medina and souks. It was hot but the guide made sure we stopped off in the shade to offer more info on the area.

Walking tour around the souks. Salem our guide was brilliant! So knowledgeable and took time to explain everything that we saw. Meet up was easy. Trip took around 4 1/2 hours. Saw everything the souks had to offer. The trip to the herbalist was great. So informative. Went back to the souls the day after and felt much more confident and comfortable getting around. Highly recommend!

What a great way to enjoy Marrakech! This city tour is not to be missed! We took this tour on the morning after arriving the night before. It provided us with a good orientation of the city, along with detailed explanation of Bahia Palace. Experiencing the various sections of the sucks was helpful for future navigation. The guide was knowledgeable and made for a wonderful experience !

A great guide made a difference! We really enjoyed learning about history, culture, and people of Morocco from this tour with Sallam. Sallam was very knowledgeable and engaged with every person in the group. We were very pleased with the tour because it was more than checking out touristy places. We highly recommend Sallam.

A very worthwhile excursion! We booked this tour through Tripadvisor, and we were very glad that we had done so. There is so much to see around there but without a guide you do not really understand what you're looking at, and our guide, Abdel, certainly knew his stuff giving us the background and history to both Marrakech and Marocco before setting off and showing us around the sites in that area. The markets were best described as incredible, with the most amazing colours everywhere you looked, and filled too with a lot of strange traffic going through them, like horses and carts, motorbikes, and barrows being pushed along by the miriad of workers; Abdel did very well keeping us all safe at all times! At the end of our tour he also made sure that we then knew how to get around the markets without a guide and without getting lost!
